electron transfer in dye-sensitized nanocrystalline tio2 solar cell
Authors
abstract
the dye-sensitized solar cells (dssc) have been regarded as one of the most promising new generation solar cells. tremendous research efforts have been invested to improve the efficiency of solar energy conversion which is generally determined by the light harvesting efficiency, electron injection efficiency and undesirable electron lifetime. in this review, various characteristics of dye-sensitized nanostructured tio2 solar cells, such as working principle, electron transport and electron lifetime, were studied. the review avoids detailed mathematical and spectroscopic discussion, but rather tries to summarize the key conclusions relevant to materials design.

The Dye-sensitized nanocrystaline TiO2 solar cell (nc-DSC) developed by Grätzel [1] has the potential to reach low costs in future outdoor power applications. In addition, due to its expected ease of production and possibilities to adjust its appearance, the potential for application is very broad. When plastic foil is used as a substrate for the nc-DSC the production and application possibilit...
full textMonte Carlo simulation of electron transport through nanocrystalline TiO2 in dye sensitized solar cells (Grätzel cells)
Grätzel cells are based on a thin film of dye sensitized nanocrystalline TiO2 interpenetrated by a redox electrolyte. Photoexcitation of the dye is followed by fast (less than 100fs) electron injection into the conduction band of the TiO2 nanoparticles. The injected electrons travel through the nanocrystalline TiO2 to the anode. Electron transport is slowed by trapping in surface and/or bulk st...
full textDye-Sensitized Nanocrystalline Rutile TiO2 Films
Dye-sensitized nanocrystalline rutile TiO2 solar cells were prepared, and the influence of Li and 1,2-dimethyl3-hexyl imidazolium ions in the electrolyte on the photovoltaic properties was compared. The electrolyte containing Li ions produced a lower open-circuit photovoltage than the electrolyte with 1,2-dimethyl-3-hexyl imidazolium ions, suggesting that the adsorption of Li ions to the rutile...
full textFabrication of Dye Sensitized Solar Cell Using Nanocrystalline TiO2 and Optical Characterization of Photo-Anode
Anatase phase containing nano-crystallite TiO2 thin film is prepared by the peptization of modified Ti-isopropoxide sol using HNO3 as peptizing agent. The resulting sol is concentrated in a rotary evaporator bath. TiO2 film is deposited on ITO substrate by spin coating process. The compact film is annealed at 450 ̊C and 500 ̊C for optical studies. The subsequently it is modified as photo-anodes i...
